SIM Glossary
Alexandra Jaysman (AJ): The name given to the SIM computer. AJ recycles horses, distributes horses.
Break: The period between SIM game years when there isn't any racing activity. Usually two weeks long, but every third year it is three weeks long.
Create a Horse (CAH): Players spend 3000 game points to create a horse with specific age, gender, color, and name.
Create a Mare (CAM): Players spend 5000 game points to create an unraced, retired 6yo broodmare with specific sire, maternal grandsire, color, and name.
Game Points: Points purchased using real money, used for perks like creating horses and subscribing to SIMperior.
Game Year: A 16-week period that comprises a full year within the game.
Horse Whisperer: A character that provides hints about a horse's preferred track condition for SIMperior players.
Mary Weather: A character that gives training comments and evaluates horses.
Post Time: The time at which the SIM computer "runs" the races, 8:00 PM Pacific Time on race nights.
Purse Distribution: The purse distribution in SIM: 50% for 1st, 22% for 2nd, 10% for 3rd, 7% for 4th, and 2% for 5th, with the remaining 9% as a breeder's award.
Retire: When a horse is taken out of racing status to become a breeding animal or be pensioned.
SIMMY Awards: The game's equivalent of the Eclipse Awards, with categories broken down by breed, gender, age, and/or region.
SIMperior: A paid status with benefits like access to speed figures, the SIM Stud Book, and a more organized Racing Barn page.
The Steward: The person who owns and runs SIM.
The Admin: Staff member of the SIM
Entry Clerk: Husband to The Steward. (Cook..and clean..and breed mares..and write things on the simperior edge..)
